Draft Preferred Concept Development Plan

Below is a link to the pdf version of the Draft Preferred Concept Development document (Volume II) that was presented at the September 23rd public meeting and the September 24th Joint City Council and Port and Harbors Commission work session. This document includes the draft final plans for each of the five sites. Each plan is supported by enlargements, narratives, conceptual construction estimate, review of economic opportunities, and maintenance needs.

Project Description

This Comprehensive Waterfront Master Plan is being developed for the City of Valdez to support existing and new waterfront opportunities and activities within the community. This effort is rooted within the 2018 Valdez Ports & Harbors Commission identification of fourteen sites that are community assets and key to supporting and growing Valdez and its waterfront.

From these fourteen sites, five were prioritized and are the focus of this Comprehensive Waterfront Master Plan effort. This plan will create site-specific conceptual waterfront master plans that facilitate future development. These plans will be backed by economic analysis, construction estimates, understanding return on investments, and implementation strategies for each site. The entire planning effort is developed within an inclusive public process.

The five sites include:

Small Boat Harbor Uplands;

Sea Otter Park;

New Boat Harbor Uplands;

Old Town; and,

Valdez Container Terminal.
